The Denver Broncos and Detroit Lions matchup on Saturday night in a meaningful game for both teams and their postseason chances. This game has the highest over/under of the day with 48 total points. The Lions come in as the better run defense, while the Broncos sport the better pass defense.

NFL DFS Showdown strategy: Lions vs. Broncos

David Montgomery, RB, Lions ($13,200/$8,800)

The Broncos defense has improved by leaps and bounds since giving up 70 to Miami, but they still are middling against the run. Their real strength has been against the pass since their awful start, so teams will still lean toward the run to attack them. The Lions would love to run the ball and with Montgomery and a lead. The Lions are 4.5-point favorites at home and if that holds true, Montgomery will see the bulk of the work between himself and Jahmyr Gibbs.

Courtland Sutton, WR, Broncos ($13,800/$9,200)

The Lions weakness is against the pass and we’ve seen some big wide receiver numbers against them. D.J. Moore, Chris Olave, Christian Watson, Moore again, and Keenan Allen have all put up huge games in each of the last five games. Sutton has yet to hit the 100 yard mark, but is making up for it with 10 touchdowns in 13 games. The Lions rank fourth-worst in touchdowns allowed to wide receivers this season.

FLEX Options

Russell Wilson, QB, Broncos ($10,000)

Wilson’s upside hasn’t been high this season, but he has managed a consistent floor, especially with his rushing numbers of late. The Broncos still have an outside shot at the playoffs and this is a good matchup. I expect the Broncos to need to pass to win this week.

Sam LaPorta, TE, Lions ($8,000)

LaPorta has shown us he can be a consistent, top-end fantasy tight end, but also, that his upside is up their with the top wide receivers. And, he gets a matchup here that should funnel targets his way, as the Broncos have played worse against tight ends than wide receivers this season.
