NFL playoff picture: Who to root for in Week 15 if you are a Green Bay Packers fan

The Packers suffered a tough loss in Week 14 and need a win to stay in 7th place in the NFC playoff picture. We go over who you should be rooting against this week.

The Green Bay Packers have done a great job trying to keep themselves out of the playoff picture this season. The Packers suffered their fifth loss this season by four or fewer points, falling to the Giants 24-22 on MNF in Week 14. That dropped Green Bay to 6-7 but the team remains in 7th place in the NFC playoff standings. The Packers take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a big matchup with playoff implications. We’ll go over which teams Packers fans need to root for in Week 15.

Result: The Packers lost to the Bucs 34-20 in Week 15 to drop to 6-8 on the season and are no longer in the 7-seed in the NFC.

Commanders vs. Rams

Result: The Rams beat the Commanders 28-20 to go 7-7. This win, plus the Packers loss, has the Packers facing a deeper hole than they’d hope.

This is a tough one. Los Angeles is coming off a rough OT loss to the Ravens to fall to 6-7 last week. The Commanders are coming off their bye but have the worst passing defense in the NFL. The Rams should have an easy time on offense and are 6.5-point favorites on the spread in this game at home. The Packers got lucky last week with L.A. losing that game. Green Bay may not get lucky this week.

Eagles vs. Seahawks

Packers fans will need to forget 4th and 26 (sorry for bringing it up) in order to root for Philly in this one. The Eagles are coming off back-to-back losses and need a win to try and overtake the Cowboys for first place in the NFC East. So Philly should be super motivated in primetime on Monday Night Football. The Eagles are just 4-point favorites on the spread on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Seahawks should get QB Geno Smith back but if not, that would go a long way in helping the Packers.

Bengals vs. Vikings

Result: The Vikings lost in overtime to the Bengals after blowing a 17-3 lead. Minnesota dropped to 7-7 and Green Bay can move into a tie with a win on Sunday.

The Vikings won an absolute scorcher 3-0 against the Raiders in Week 14. A loss there would have been helpful to Green Bay in more than one way. If Minnesota loses to the Bengals in Week 15, it sets the Packers up nicely when the two teams play in Week 17. If Green Bay and Minnesota enter that game tied, it would be a de facto playoff game to seal up either the 6 or 7 seed in the NFC. The Bengals and Vikings play on Saturday night this week and Cincy is a 3.5-point favorite on the spread on DKSB.
