NFL playoff picture: Who to root for in Week 15 if you are a Buffalo Bills fan

Week 15 is here and the Buffalo Bills are looking to boost their playoff chances after a Week 14 win over the Chiefs. Who should Bills fans root for to help their chances?

The Buffalo Bills secured a critical win in Week 14, going on the road and beating the Chiefs. That coupled with the Dolphins' upset loss to the Titans kept the door open a crack in the AFC West. The Bills are two games back of the Dolphins with four games remaining. Buffalo is also tied with five teams for the final two wild-card berths.

The Bills host the Cowboys in the Fox national game of the week for Week 15. They’ll need a win in that one, but Bills fans have plenty else to keep an eye on this weekend as they look for their team to improve its playoff position.

Sunday update: The Bills took care of business by beating the Cowboys, 31-10, to improve Buffalo’s record to 8-6. They’re tied with the Colts and Texans, but those AFC South squads have tiebreakers, which makes the Bills the ninth seed and out of the playoffs ... as of now.

Jets vs. Dolphins

Result: The Dolphins crushed the Jets. The Bills need a win to keep the lead at two games with three weeks to play.

The Bills have a win in hand over the Dolphins, which means Miami cannot clinch the division in Week 15 even with a win and a Bills loss. But a Dolphins win will make the division a little bit more of a long shot heading into Week 16. Miami hosts the Jets and is an 8.5-point favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook

Steelers vs. Colts

Result: The Colts beat the Steelers 30-13. Pittsburgh drops a half-game back of the Bills while Indianapolis moves a half-game up in the wild-card standings.

The Steelers and Colts are both 7-6 and hold the final two AFC wild-card berths. They each have the tiebreaker over the Bills due to conference record (5-4 vs. 4-5) and they will not face off the rest of the way. Bills fans should root for the Steelers to win because they have a tougher schedule the rest of the way compared to the Colts. The idea is that the Steelers are more likely to lose one of their remaining three games (vs. Bengals, @ Seahawks, @ Ravens) as compared to the Colts (@ Falcons, vs. Raiders, vs. Texans).

Indianapolis is 1.5-point favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Vikings vs. Bengals

Result: The Bengals stormed back from a 17-3 deficit to beat the Vikings 27-24 in overtime. Cincinnati climbed a half game up on the Bills with the win.

The Bengals open the Saturday tripleheader and have the critical head-to-head tiebreaker edge over the Bills. That means Buffalo has to finish at least a game clear of Cincinnati if the final playoff berth comes down to them.

Cincinnati is a three-point favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Broncos vs. Lions

Result: The Lions crushed the Broncos 42-17 to drop Denver to 7-7 in the playoff race. Denver drop a half game back of the Bengals.

This game represents the same thing for the Bills. Buffalo lost to Denver a week after their loss in Cincinnati, so the Bills need to finish a full game clear when the season concludes.

Denver is a 4.5-point underdog at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Texans vs. Titans

Result: The Texans beat the Titans on an overtime field goal. Houston moves a half game up on Buffalo in the wild card race.

The Texans aren’t expected to have QB C.J. Stroud in this game. He’s still in concussion protocol and is considered doubtful. So we’re operating under the assumption Davis Mills will start at QB. Plus, WR Nico Collins is out for the Texans, which isn’t great. The Bills need a ton of help to get ahead in the playoff picture but this is good news for them. Houston is in 8th place at 7-6 and the Bills are at the bottom of the group that’s tied.

Titans are 3.5-point favorites at DraftKings Sportsbook

Bears vs. Browns

Result: The Browns beat the Bears on a field goal as time expired. Cleveland improved to 9-5 and climbs 1.5 games up on the Bills pending Buffalo’s game against Dallas.

The Browns are 8-5, which puts them a game clear of the Bills and the rest of the 7-6 teams. Buffalo and Cleveland did not face off, which means it comes down to the conference record tiebreaker. The Browns are 6-3 in conference while the Bills are 4-5. Buffalo needs a lot of help from Cleveland if they’re going to move past them, so a loss to the suddenly surging Bears would help.

Cleveland is a three-point favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook.
