Should you start Raiders RB Zamir White or Ameer Abdullah if Josh Jacobs is out for Week 15?

We discuss whether or not you should start White or Abdullah if Jacobs is sidelined in a crucial fantasy football playoff matchup on TNF vs. Raiders.

Update: Jacobs will not play Thursday night, per Ian Rapoport.

We are now firmly in the fantasy football playoffs and injuries have reared their ugly heads for this Thursday night matchup between the Raiders and Chargers. We already have seen Chargers QB Justin Herbert go on season ending I.R. this week and now the Chargers top WR, Keenan Allen, is out for this game as well. We can now add Josh Jacobs to that list of top fantasy players that don’t look like they’ll play Thursday night. It’s not set in stone, but Ian Rapoport reports that he is trending toward not playing.

Fantasy Football analysis: Josh Jacobs injury

If Jacobs can’t go, his backups are Zamir White and Ameer Abdullah. Neither have seen much work this season, as Jacobs has been a workhorse back. Abdullah has played more than White, as he is more of a receiving/third-down back. But, if Jacobs can’t go, White would likely be the lead back, with Abdullah the receiving back.

Start or sit in Week 15?

Zamir White

Start

There really isn’t much to go on for this season, as Jacobs hasn’t missed a game. White’s outlook is hard to predict, but it’s theoretically high as the starting back against a poor run defense. He isn’t a lock, but if you had Jacobs and don’t have a strong replacement, I’d start White. He’ll be fresh from not playing much and gets a matchup against a below average run defense. This game should be close, as neither team has the firepower to run away with an easy win. That should keep White seeing work throughout the night.

Ameer Abdullah

Sit

Abdullah, if things play out like they should, he will be used more sparingly than White, but would have a decent shot at seeing 5+ targets. That makes him somewhat useful in PPR leagues if you are desperate due to injuries. I’d rather not have to go to him in the fantasy playoffs, so hopefully you can find a back with more guaranteed touches.
