The New Orleans Pelicans are hoping to carry some momentum from their win over the Timberwolves Monday when they visit the Washington Wizards Wednesday evening. The biggest question mark ahead of this contest is the status of Pelicans star power forward Zion Williamson. He’s dealing with an ankle injury and here’s the latest on his status.

Zion Williamson injury updates

Update: Williamson has been ruled out for Wednesday’s game, which means Ingram and McCollum can be backed on scoring and assist props, and Valanciunas will have more of an impact on the glass.

Williamson is officially listed as questionable, and there have been a lot of stories circulating about his conditioning. There are reports of the Pelicans being frustrated with Williamson’s lack of desire to monitor his weight, and there’s plenty of content out there on his physical shape. However, that hasn’t impacted his production as he’s averaging 22.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.

If Williamson is unable to suit up, look for CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram to see big upticks in usage. Ingram likely becomes the primary scorer, while McCollum should see more shots but will remain more of a facilitator. Look for Jonas Valanciunas to get more rebounds as well.
