The No. 8 Creighton Bluejays take on the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels on Wednesday, December 13 in Las Vegas. Tip-off is set for 9:00 p.m. ET, and the game will be available to watch on CBS.

Creighton (8-1) is off to a solid start this season with wins over Iowa, Loyola, Nebraska, and Oklahoma State on their resume. Their single loss came at the hands of Colorado State, and they fell 69-48 as they shot just 27.9% from the field and were out-rebounded by the Rams.

Creighton ranks sixth overall at KenPom, sitting at 11th in adjusted offensive efficiency and eighth in adjusted defensive efficiency. The Bluejays, who made a trip to the Elite Eight in March, average the ninth-most points per game in the nation at 87.4. They also rank ninth in shooting percentage from the field at 51.3%.

This Bluejays offense is led by guard Baylor Scheierman, who was a standout for last year’s Elite Eight team. Scheierman averages 18.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, leading the roster in both stat lines. Returning starters Ryan Kalkbrenner and Trey Alexander each add over 15 points and six rebounds per game on average.

Creighton comes into this game following a hugely dominant win over Central Michigan, which ended 109-64. Six different players put up 14 or more points in the win. Creighton is a challenge to defend because of the depth of their talent and the amount of leading scorers they had — any of the top three could overtake that No. 1 spot in any given game.

UNLV (3-4) is fresh off a 78-75 loss to Loyola Marymount. The Rebels have wins over Stetson, Pepperdine, and Akron so far, but haven’t had luck elsewhere, with losses against Florida State, Richmond, and Southern University. The Rebels rank 134th at KenPom and 75th in adjusted offensive efficiency. They shoot 47.3% from the field, which cracks the top 50 in the nation.

Forward Kalib Boone leads UNLV with 14 points per game, and Jalen Hill averages 6.8 rebounds per game. Creighton has three players who average more points per game than UNLV’s highest average scorer. The Bluejays should be able to run away with this one fairly easily. Creighton is 7-2 ATS this season, and UNLV is 2-5.
