There were a few RB plays that came out of a nowhere in Week 14. Those players likely helped some lineups win cash on Sunday and even on the MNF two-game slate. We saw backup RB Chase Brown go for nearly 20 fantasy points for the Bengals, mostly thanks to a 54-yard TD catch in a blowout win over the Colts. Titans RB Tyjae Spears also performed well in the passing game with six catches for 89 yards. Spears is on the main slate for Week 15. Brown is not. Let’s look at some value options at RB $5K or under for the slate on DraftKings.
NFL DFS Picks, Week 15: RB value plays
Clyde Edwards-Helaire, KC vs. NE, $5,000
With Isiah Pacheco out in Week 14, the Chiefs went with a backfield split of CEH and Jerick McKinnon. It was almost a pure split with CEH at 32 snaps and McK at 30. Edwards-Helaire had 13 touches and McKinnon finished with 7 in the close loss to Buffalo. Even if Pacheco returns in Week 15, it’s against the Patriots, arguably the worst team in the NFL. Kansas City desperately needs a win after two straight losses. This could be a blowout and that could mean the Chiefs are cautious with Pacheco. CEH should see snaps/touches and could go under-the-radar if Pacheco is active. If Pacheco sits, CEH is a strong value in a good game script.
Tyjae Spears, TEN vs. HOU, $4,800
Spears continues to eat into RB Derrick Henry’s workload and has become more of a fantasy factor throughout the season. Spears has just over 30 fantasy points on DK over the past two weeks. At 5-8, the Titans still haven’t been eliminated from the playoffs and will remain competitive. Even if that isn’t the case, Spears should get more snaps/touches with Henry getting most of the early-down and goal-line work. At under $5K, Spears just needs to keep catching the ball to return value. Spears has out-snapped Henry in each of the past two weeks. While the Texans are improved, their defense has not performed well lately. Spears could be pretty chalky but makes for a good value play.
Jamaal Williams, NO vs. NYG, $4,300
Williams and Alvin Kamara came pretty close to a snap split in Week 14 vs. the Panthers. The Saints were coasting to a win most of the game, but Williams did get 11 carries for 43 yards, his best numbers since the season opener when Kamara was suspended. Williams has dealt with injuries most of his first year in New Orleans. He could be finding good health and the Saints will want to lean on the run game vs. New York with QB Derek Carr banged up. The Giants’ run defense is pretty soft and has been way worse on the road.
