Here, we’ll break down the Texans’ backfield and look at whether you should start Devin Singletary, Dameon Pierce, or both in this week’s fantasy lineups.
Fantasy football start sit advice: Texans RBs
Singletary had some huge weeks when Dameon Pierce was out with an ankle injury, but has seen more limited action now that Pierce has returned. Singletary is averaging 4.1 yards per carry this season, and he’s now had two lower-production rushing weeks in a row. In Week 13, Singletary finished with eight carries for 36 yards and one reception for four yards.
Despite that dip, Singletary is still a solid option to start this week. He sees some action in the passing game, and with wide receiver Tank Dell out, the Texans could be working the running backs into more passing options.
Pierce has not been as productive as Singletary this season, averaging just 3.0 yards per carry. However, he was a higher earner than Singletary in Week 13, finishing the day 15 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown. Pierce has dealt with injury issues this year that have kept him out.
He may not be the first choice to start this week, but after he carried a heavy load in the backfield last week, Pierce is not a bad option in a FLEX position.
Can you play both Singletary and Pierce in the same lineup?
Going all-in on the Texans backfield is not a recommended play this week. The Jets’ defense has limited opponents to just seven rushing touchdowns all season, so we recommend that you diversify your running back starters in this week’s fantasy lineups.
