Here, we’ll break down the Dolphins’ backfield and look at whether you should start Raheem Mostert, De’Von Achane, or both in this week’s fantasy lineups.
Fantasy football start sit advice: Dolphins RBs
Mostert is listed as questionable after missing practice on Thursday, but he has been a fixture on the Dolphins’ injury report all year and has yet to miss a game. Mostert finished Week 13 with 11 carries for 43 rushing yards and a touchdown, and added one reception for eight yards.
In the weeks that Achane plays, Mostert sees a fairly significant drop in his backfield load and fantasy earnings. However, it’s not worth benching him — Mostert still finds plenty of opportunities to get in on the action and is a frequent scorer. He averages 5.1 yards per carry — a respectable number, but low compared to Achane’s 9.5 YPC.
Achane also appeared on the Dolphins’ injury report with a rib issue but was a full participant in Thursday’s practice. Achane led the Dolphins in Week 13 with 17 carries for 73 yards and two touchdowns. He added three receptions for 30 yards, as well.
Achane should absolutely be a starter on any fantasy roster this week. His season has been somewhat derailed by injury issues, but when he is on the field, he is a huge fantasy earner. In every game this season in which he has had more than one carry, he has scored at least one touchdown. We can expect to see similar results against the Titans this week.
Can you play both Mostert and Achane in the same lineup?
You can certainly play both RBs in the same lineup, as both should see plenty of action on the ground this week. However, if you’re leaning one way or the other, I would recommend leaning Achane’s way. He sees more carries per game than Mostert when they both play and has a higher YPC average.
