NFL playoff picture: Who to root for in Week 14 if you are a Buffalo Bills fan

Week 14 is here and the Buffalo Bills are sinking in the playoff picture. Who should Bills fans root for to help their chances?

The Buffalo Bills have been struggling and find themselves moving in the wrong direction in the playoff race. They started the season 3-1 and beat the Miami Dolphins, but have since gone 3-5 and now find themselves in 11th place in the AFC.

The good news for Bills fans is the AFC Wild Card race is wide open. Buffalo is 6-6, but they are only one game back of all three current wild card teams. With five weeks remaining, they are right in the thick of the playoff race if they can get back on track.

It doesn’t get easier for the Bills this weekend, as they travel to face the Kansas City Chiefs. Win or lose, they still need some help from other teams in the AFC. If you’re a Bills fan, here’s a rundown of the games that matter and how you should be rooting. The Pittsburgh Steelers won on Thursday Night Football to improve to 7-6 and currently sit in eighth place in the conference.

Indianapolis Colts (7-5) vs. Cincinnati Bengals (6-6)

The Bills are rooting for the Bengals in this matchup. Cincinnati has the head-to-head tiebreaker over Buffalo, so a win and a Bills loss to the Chiefs drops them a game back, but really two games back due to the tiebreaker. However, a Colts win would move them two games up with four to go if the Bills lose. If Buffalo upsets the Chiefs, a Colts loss tightens up the wild card race that much further for the Bills.

Denver Broncos (6-6) vs. Los Angeles Chargers (5-7)

The Bills are rooting for the Chargers in this matchup. Like Cincinnati, Denver has the head-to-head tiebreaker over Buffalo. The Bills travel to face the Chargers in Week 16, so the head-to-head tiebreaker between those two will be decided at that point.

Houston Texans (7-5) vs. New York Jets (4-8)

The Bills are rooting for the Jets in this matchup. Houston has a one-game lead and Buffalo needs as many wild card teams slipping as possible.

The Texans are a 3.5-point favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook

Tennessee Titans (4-8) vs. Miami Dolphins (9-3)

The Bills are rooting for the Titans in what would be a massive upset. Miami currently holds a three-game lead over Buffalo in the AFC East. It’s unlikely the Bills can come back in the final five weeks, but they do travel to Miami in Week 18. A Titans upset is highly unlikely, but the chance is there.
