Heading into a Week 13 Thursday Night Football matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, the Dallas Cowboys are tied for the second-best record in the NFC at 8-3. Due to his team’s success and some impressive individual numbers, Cowboys QB Dak Prescott has the fourth-best odds to win NFL MVP at +700, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts is the frontrunner heading into Week 13 with +140 odds while Patrick Mahomes (+350), Lamar Jackson (+400), Prescott (+700), and Tua Tagovailoa (+900) round out the top five on the odds board.

This comes on the heels of an outstanding performance by Prescott, who was 22-of-32 for 331 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions against the Washington Commanders on Thanksgiving of Week 12.

Across 11 games this season, Prescott has racked up 2,935 passing yards with 23 touchdowns and 6 INT to go along with a 107.4 passer rating that ranks second in the league behind 49ers QB Brock Purdy.

In Week 13, Prescott will face a middle-of-the-pack Seattle defense that ranks 13th in opponent average team passer rating. The Cowboys QB has been excellent at home this season with a 129.3 passer rating to go along with 15 touchdowns and only two interceptions across five contests.

Prescott has better passing numbers than the top three candidates (Hurts, Mahomes, Jackson) while leading this group in yards per game, pass touchdowns, passer rating, and more. However, it’s worth noting that Hurts has 410 yards on the ground and 11 rushing touchdowns while leading the Eagles to the best record in the league at 10-1.

Because team success is so important for the NFL MVP award, Prescott will need to maintain pace while pushing the Cowboys to a late-season surge for the best record in the league. That’s the path for him to realistically capture this award. Of course, Dallas would need some help for the Eagles, Chiefs, Ravens, Dolphins, and 49ers to fall behind them in the overall standings.
