We have made it to Week 13 of the NFL season. The top two tight ends in Week 12 ended up being Pat Freiermuth and Tyler Higbee in PPR scoring formats. Freiermuth should be able to sustain his success with a new offensive gameplan, but Higbee came down with the first two touchdowns for a Los Angeles tight end, so proceed with caution.

Here is how we are approaching tight ends in Week 13 PPR leagues with the fantasy football playoffs on the horizon.

Teams on bye: Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, Las Vegas Raiders, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, Buffalo Bills

Injury news to monitor

There are no new tight end injuries to keep track of. Zach Ertz would be eligible to return from injured reserve if he is healthy enough. The Philadelphia Eagles never added Dallas Goedert to injured reserve, suggesting they think he will be able to return either this week or next. Week 14 would be the last game he would have had to miss if he was added to IR.

Streaming options for Week 13

Dalton Schultz had an absolute dud of a game last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Despite how good quarterback CJ Stroud has been, Schultz hasn’t always been following suit. This week, however, Schultz has the best matchup possible as the Houston Texans take on the Denver Broncos, who allow the most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends.

Jaguars TE Evan Engram has been up and down this season but remains the overall TE7 of the year. He had eight targets last week but only brought in five of them for 49 yards. Engram has a better matchup this week against a Cincinnati Bengals’ defense, allowing the second-most fantasy points per game to tight ends.

New York Jets tight end Tyler Conklin is finally getting the checkdowns we thought he would be receiving all year with a backup quarterback under center. New York is committed to going with Tim Boyle against the Atlanta Falcons, and Conklin brought in four of his five targets last week for 33 yards. No, this stat line doesn’t get you excited, but he should see a decent number of targets, and if he can find the endzone for the first time this season, Conklin would be worth streaming. Atlanta’s defense allows the sixth-most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends.
