The Carolina Panthers announced Monday that they fired head coach Frank Reich. The team started the season 1-10, with their latest loss occurring on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. Reich has only been with the Panthers since the end of the 2022 season, when he was fired as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts.

The Panthers will likely be the first team to be officially eliminated from playoff contention this season. They traded for the first overall pick in 2023 and selected Bryce Young out of Alabama, who has struggled in his adjustment to the pros. In the trade, they gave away their 2024 first-round pick, which has a very good chance of being the first overall pick this year. The Panthers do not currently have a first-round pick on the table for 2024.

Special teams coordinator Chris Tabor will take on the role of interim head coach for the remainder of the season. The Panthers face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 13.
