As Week 12 of the 2023 NFL season wraps up, we take a look at which teams are in the running for the first overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft. We’ve now made it past Thanksgiving and as we enter the final stretch of the season, teams will start being eliminated from postseason contention in the coming weeks. That means we’ll start getting a better idea of who will be making the top picks in the draft this April.

2024 NFL Draft order: Tank Watch, Week 12

  1. Carolina Panthers (1-10) —> Chicago Bears
  2. Arizona Cardinals (2-10)
  3. New England Patriots (2-9)
  4. Chicago Bears (3-8)
  5. Washington Commanders (4-8)
  6. New York Giants (4-8)
  7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-7)
  8. New York Jets (4-7)
  9. Tennessee Titans (4-7)
  10. Los Angeles Chargers (4-6)
  11. Las Vegas Raiders (5-7)

Carolina’s dismal season continued with a 17-10 loss to the Titans on Sunday and Frank Reich is already dangerously close to losing his job. Of course, the Panthers’ misfortune is to the Bears’ gain as they own their first-round pick. Chicago currently own the No. 1 and No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, but that’s before it visits the Vikings for Monday Night Football.

Arizona and New England own the No. 2 and No. 3 picks, respectively, as they both dropped their Week 12 matchups on Sunday. The Pats in particular are a total mess and starting quarterback Mac Jones was once again benched for Bailey Zappe in the second half agains the Giants. I can hear Bill Belichick rewinding Caleb Williams and Drake Maye tape as we speak.

Washington dropped into the top five with a Thanksgiving Day blowout loss to the Cowboys. That resulted in the firing of defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio and that may be the precursor to an entire staff overhaul once the season ends. Other teams to keep an eye on are both New York’s and Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers have dropped six of its last seven games and continue to trend down. The same goes for the Jets, who finally ended the Zach Wilson experiment by starting Tim Boyle in their loss to the Dolphins on Friday.
