The New Orleans Pelicans will complete a back-to-back set Saturday when they take on the Utah Jazz. The Pelicans have looked like a strong team to start the season, largely due to the presence of Zion Williamson. The forward has been dynamic this season after missing large chunks of the last two seasons with foot issues. Here’s a look at his status for Saturday’s game.

Zion Williamson injury updates

Update: Williamson has been ruled out of Saturday’s game. The Pelicans are resting their star to manage his workload.

Williamson doesn’t have an official injury at the moment, and the Pelicans won’t have to release an official injury report until 3 p.m. ET. However, Williamson has been rested on the second night of a back-to-back set in both instances so far this season for the Pelicans. Conventional wisdom suggests he’ll be rested once again Saturday.

If Williamson does indeed sit, Brandon Ingram and Jonas Valanciunas would be the beneficiaries in terms of usage. Ingram probably becomes the primary offensive initiator, while Valanciunas will get some additional boards and interior touches.
