Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers is expected to enter the transfer portal this offseason. Matt Zenith of 247 Sports reported on Friday that the veteran QB was expected to enter the portal and Rogers himself posted a goodbye letter to his Twitter account.
Rogers was a four-year starter at MSU and leaves Starkville with the second-most career passing yards in SEC history with 12,315. He effectively operated Mike Leach’s Air Raid offense and led the team to back-to-back bowl appearances in 2021 and 2022. The untimely death of Leach last December led to an awkward year under new head coach Zach Arnett, who attempted to pull away from the pass-happy system. Rogers ended playing just eight games this season due to injury as disappointing results led to Arnett’s firing before he fully completed his first year on the job.
As one of the first major QB’s to enter the portal this offseason. Rogers should have a number of suitors for his services in the coming weeks.
