Why is there an NFL game on Black Friday this year?

The Dolphins and Jets face off on Black Friday in Week 12. We take a look at why the NFL decided to add the Black Friday game.

The NFL will have their first ever Black Friday football game in Week 12 as the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets will face off in a divisional matchup. Kickoff from MetLife Stadium is set for 3:00 p.m. and will air on Prime Video.

A big reason that the NFL is doing this is money. They partnered with Amazon which will exclusively stream the game every year. Fox, CBS, and NBC get the Thanksgiving games and Amazon wanted to get into the market. With everybody wanting to see football on the day, they should get a ton of viewers. You could honestly play an NFL game on any day of the week and get good viewers. However, on the Friday after Thanksgiving, were everybody is off work and sitting around because they’re still stuffed from all they ate the day before, the numbers should do well.

Miami is a 10-point favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook and the total sits at 41. On the moneyline, the Dolphins are -520 while the Jets are +390.
