Save room on the Thanksgiving plate for some late night college basketball as the Vegas Showdown closes out a busy holiday of sports with the NC State Wolfpack and Vanderbilt Commodores going toe to toe.

NC State Wolfpack (-7, 142.5) vs. Vanderbilt Commodores

Vanderbilt has dealt with a rash of injuries to begin the season with Tyrin Lawrence, Ven-Allen Lubin, and Lee Dort missing the team’s first four games of the season.

While many look at these losses as impactful for the offense, it has led to the team having their defensive issues from a season ago manifest into this season.

The Commodores have allowed at least 67 points in all four of their games this season with facing Presbyterian, USC Upstate, UNC Greensboro, and Central Arkansas and entered Wednesday ranked 192nd in the country in points allowed on a per possession basis after ranking 247th in this category a season ago.

The Vanderbilt defense’s job on Thursday is to limit an NC State offense that entered Wednesday 22nd in the country in points scored on a per possession basis thanks in large part to doing the little things.

NC State is seventh in the country in turnovers per possession and are shooting 77.8% at the free throw line to allow them to get off to a fast offensive start in spite of shooting 31.3% from 3-point range in their first three games.

On the other side, second chances points have helped Vanderbilt win three straight games and score at least 74 points in each of their past three, grabbing an offensive rebound on 35.5% of their missed shots, which was 35th in the nation entering Wednesday.

With Vanderbilt’s struggling with their injury woes and NC State’s beginning the season as one of the most crisp in the country, there will be lots of points on this Thanksgiving plate.
