Since October, Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson has crossed that magic threshold into the realm of the low-end TE1 in fantasy football. He exists in that place of solid producers who don’t quite deliver what the top-five or so players at the position do, but he’s good enough to leave in your lineup in most weeks.
Despite a down game in Week 11, he’s in a good spot for a bounce back in a Thanksgiving Day game against the Washington Commanders.
Fantasy Football analysis: Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson
With the entire Cowboys passing offense playing it close to the vest last week against the Panthers, Ferguson had just three catches on five targets for 32 yards. He also saw his three-game scoring streak snapped. But I wouldn’t be too concerned. In the three outings prior to that, he had at least four catches.
Washington has given up five touchdowns to opposing tight ends this season, tied for the second most in the NFL.
Start or sit in Week 12 PPR leagues?
Despite the rough spot last week, Ferguson is still getting the throws in this offense as Dallas’ top tight end. He’s a top-10 tight end this week, and he should be starting in PPR leagues, large or small.
Start or sit in Week 12 standard leagues?
Start him in standard leagues too. He’s clearly got some touchdown upside here, and he’s a big enough part of this offense, with a favorable matchup, that this could be a ceiling game for him.
Player(s) you would start ahead of Jake Ferguson
Outside of the obvious top-five options at tight end, I would consider Dalton Schultz over Ferguson this week. The Houston tight end has a very favorable matchup on tap against the Jaguars.
