Two teams trending in opposite directions this season will square off Sunday evening as the Boston Celtics (10-2) visit the Memphis Grizzlies (3-9). Boston has the best record in the league and has won five games in a row, while Memphis is 3-7 in its last 10 games and is dealing with a myriad of problems.
Jaylen Brown is listed as questionable with a groin injury. The Grizzlies have a long list of injuries, with former Celtics guard Marcus Smart joining the list. He’ll be out 3-5 weeks. Luke Kennard and Xavier Tillman are likely to be questionable.
The Celtics are 10.5-point favorites at DraftKings Sportsbook, with the total set at 221. Boston is -520 on the moneyline while Memphis is +390.
Celtics vs. Grizzlies, 8 p.m. ET
Pick ATS: Celtics -10.5
Double-digit spreads can by worrying early in the regular season but it’s hard to fade the Celtics in this spot. They’ve won their last five games, covering 9, 9.5 and 12-point spreads in that span. The Grizzlies haven’t won a game at home this season and are on the second night of a back-to-back set without half their roster. Take the Celtics to comfortably win and cover Sunday evening.
Over/Under: Under 221
Both Boston and Memphis are 6-6 to the over this season. The Celtics have been excellent on both sides of the ball, ranking fourth in offensive rating and second in defensive rating. The Grizzlies are on the opposite side of the spectrum at 28th in offensive rating and 18th in defensive rating. I expect the Celtics to be thorough and ultimately call off the starters, which should lead to the under hitting.
