After losing another heartbreaker last Sunday, the Los Angeles Chargers will look to rebound on the road against the Green Bay Packers. In order to do that, they will need their receiving corps to step up, especially first-round rookie Quentin Johnston.
Fantasy Football analysis: Chargers WR Quentin Johnston
It took a while for Johnston to take on a more significant role in the Chargers’ passing game, but he has emerged following a rash of injuries. At present, both Mike Williams and Josh Palmer reside on injured reserve with the former out for the season with an ACL tear. Palmer joined him earlier this month, leaving Johnston as the main boundary option opposite No. 1 wideout Keenan Allen.
Johnston’s production hasn’t matched his playing time, at least not yet. He has averaged 29.5 receiving yards and a quarter of a touchdown over his last four games despite appearing on the majority of the Chargers’ offensive snaps. However, he finally reached the end zone last week, giving him his best fantasy outing of 2023 so far.
Start or sit in Week 11 PPR leagues?
Sit. At least for now, Johnston’s fantasy value rests almost solely on his potential to score. He has a decent chance to reach the end zone again this week, especially with the Packers potentially playing with seventh-round rookie Carrington Valentine as their top corner. However, that probably bodes better for Allen than Johnston. Outside of leagues with more than 14 teams, he doesn’t merit serious starting consideration.
Start or sit in Week 11 standard leagues?
Sit. The same concerns apply to standard formats. Johnston probably needs a touchdown for managers to feel good about starting him, and he hasn’t shown that consistency during his first nine NFL games.
Player(s) you would start ahead of Quentin Johnston
DKN recommends starting the Seattle Seahawks’ Jaxon Smith-Njigba or the Arizona Cardinals’ Rondale Moore ahead of Johnston this week.
