Tyler Van Dyke to start for Miami vs. Louisville

The Miami Hurricanes will host the No. 10 Louisville Cardinals this afternoon at noon ET and quarterback Tyler Van Dyke will get the start in this game. He was benched in favor of freshman Emory Williams for last week’s rivalry game at Florida State, only for Williams to fracture his left arm towards the end of the ballgame. Van Dyke attempted to lead the team on a game-tying drive, only to be picked off in the final minute of the 27-20 loss.

Van Dyke’s junior season has nosedived, directly mirroring the team’s collapse since early October. He looked like a potential Heisman Trophy contender in September, completing over 70% of his passes with 11 touchdowns to just one interception through four games. However, a poor performance in their infamous loss to Georgia Tech set in motion a nightmare month where he regresses significantly. He threw zero touchdowns and five interceptions in back-to-back games against Virginia and NC State, prompting head coach Mario Cristobal to make a change at QB. With Williams done for the year now, they are right back to TVD to close the season.
