The BYU Cougars will host the No. 14 Oklahoma Sooners today at noon ET/10 a.m. MT and the status for starting quarterback Kedon Slovis is still up in the air heading into the matchup. Slovis has been dealing with an arm injury and has missed the previous two games for the Cougars, forcing backup Jake Retzlaff in his place. Head coach Kalane Sitake wouldn’t name a starter, but told the media this week that Slovis is their guy when he’s fully healthy.

Transferring from Pitt last offseason, Slovis has put up decent numbers as BYU has had an up-and-down 2023 campaign. Through eight games, he’s completed roughly 58% of his passes for 1,716 yards with 12 touchdowns, three intercetions, and an additional three TD’s on the ground. In his place, Retzlaff has struggled as the Cougars have been blown out by West Virginia and Iowa State in back-to-back weeks. In those two starts, the junior college transfer completed just 49.3% of his passes for 314 yards with a touchdown and two picks.

BYU enters this game as a heavy 24.5-point underdog at DraftKings Sportsbook, accompanied by a total set at 58.
