Honduras is making their first appearance in the Nations Leagues knockout rounds after finishing in second place in League A Group B. Going 2-1-1 through their four group matches, they finished just three points behind group winners Jamaica and logged two 4-0 wins over Grenada and Cuba. While they’re in great form after the group stage run, they haven’t been able to get a win over Mexico since 2017 and will face their toughest test of the tournament thus far.

Mexico is on the hunt for their first Nations League trophy after the Americans secured back-to-back titles in the first two editions of the tournament. El Tri come off a 2-2 draw with Germany last month and will look to put their potent offense to good use on the road in Honduras this weekend. They’ll play host in the return leg on November 21 as they look to secure a spot not only in the finals in March, but a berth in the 2024 Copa America next summer as the winner of each quarterfinal series will be awarded a spot in the storied tournament.
