The Reggae Boyz impressed throughout the group stage, logging wins over Honduras, Grenada, and Haiti while ending in a draw in their first outing against Haiti. They’re led by Al-Ettifaq striker Demarai Gray with three goals in the tournament, while both Shamar Nicholson and Bobby Reid have each added two of their own. Philadelphia Union goalkeeper Andre Blake will be on the roster for Heimir Hallgrímsson’s squad.
The Canadians are coming off a 4-1 loss to Japan in their most recent friendly last month, which was preceded by a loss in a penalty shootout against the United States in the Gold Cup quarterfinal back in July. With a fairly stacked roster headlined by Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies and Lille striker Jonathan David, they’ll be looking to get off on the right foot in Jamaica with a win.
The return leg of this quarterfinal series will be played in Canada on November 21 as the home side will hope to secure advancement to the semifinal round. In addition to booking a trip to the Nations League Finals in March, the winner of each quarterfinal series will also earn a spot in the 2024 Copa America next summer.
