Patrick Mahomes was the top dog last week in fantasy, as he compiled 34.9 points in the Chiefs win over the Chargers. He was joined in the 30-point club by Lamar Jackson, who threw for three touchdowns and ran for another in the Ravens drubbing of the Lions. Here’s a look at three quarterbacks who put up those kind of numbers this week.
Fantasy football, Week 8: Best QB Matchups
Jalen Hurts vs. Commanders
While Hurts played the entire second half last week with an ankle brace after sustaining a knee injury, he’s got a great matchup against a Commanders defense that’s allowed 14 passing touchdowns this season. Washington’s defense could end up spending a lot of time on the field due to their offense’s inability to move the ball, which could also go in Hurts’ favor.
Lamar Jackson vs. Cardinals
Time to ride the hot hand. As mentioned above, Jackson had an incredible game against the Lions and is now set up for a second solid week thanks to a matchup against the Cardinals. Arizona has a bottom-five rushing and passing defense, and Jackson’s a gifted playmaker in both regards. If the Ravens wide receivers play the same way they played on Sunday, then Jackson’s in line to have a big game.
Patrick Mahomes vs. Broncos
The same logic applies to Mahomes. He’s coming off a masterclass against the Chargers (424 yards passing and four TDs) and is now going against a subpar Broncos defense. While he only managed one touchdown pass against them earlier this year, that was on a Thursday Night game with a short week. Mahomes should benefit from the extra rest in this matchup against Denver.
