Boxing fans get a rare Sunday evening card with the heavyweight division in the spotlight. Andy Ruiz and Luis Ortiz are facing off at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on a FOX PPV. You can purchase the fight on TV or you can watch a live stream at FITE TV and PPV.com.

The preliminary card gets underway at 7 p.m. ET on FS1 and FOX will air an 8 p.m. fight. The main card gets going on PPV at 9 p.m. and the main event is expected to start between 11 p.m. and midnight.

Ruiz comes into the bout with a 34-2 record and having briefly held the heavyweight title. Ruiz stunned Anthony Joshua in June 2019 when he claimed a seventh-round TKO to win the WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO titles. Joshua avenged the loss the following December with a unanimous decision victory. Ruiz returned to the ring in May 2021 and won a unanimous decision over Chris Arreola.

Ortiz is 33-2 and has twice gotten a shot at the WBC title, with both fights coming against Deontay Wilder. Ortiz was stopped in the tenth round via TKO in March 2018 and then was knocked out in the seventh round in November 2019. Since that second loss, he knocked out Alexander Flores in the first round in November 2020 and won a sixth round TKO over Charles Martin in January 2022.

Ruiz comes into the bout as the favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook. He is a -400 favorite while Ortiz is a +290 underdog. The favored fight outcome is Ruiz by stoppage at -135. A Ruiz decision follows at +260. An Ortiz stoppage is +550 and a decision is +700.

Round 1: 10-9 Ruiz

A couple body shots in a rather passive round for both fighters made the difference, though Ortiz almost stole it with a shot late. Feels like a lot of feeling out in the opener.

Round 2: 10-7 Ruiz

Ortiz survives, but was put on the canvas twice! He looked a bit shaky after a huge right hand to the head, and a smaller almost half-slip was called another knockdown shortly thereafter. Tons of thunder from both so far, but Ortiz needs to win some rounds or stop this thing in a hurry.

Round 3: 10-9 Ruiz

Less action here, but a round where Ruiz still seemed to have the best of it in ring generalship.

Round 4: 10-9 Ruiz

Somehow the man with the shorter reach is still able to land his jab more consistently. A flurry that came in after a jab stunned Ortiz made the difference. Though Ortiz landed some quality shots as well, he was unable to turn them into combinations.

Round 5: 10-9 Ortiz

Better from Ortiz, who was able to land jabs with his right hand in his southpaw stance, but also follow with some lefts that scored as well. Not a ton of action in this fight, but it feels like a huge KO could come at any time.

Round 6: 10-9 Ortiz

Another winning round for Ortiz, who since he’s been knocked down has shown superior ring generalship and is the more aggressive fighter. That’s not to say there’s been a lot of action, as the two Golaiths mostly are staring at each other.

Round 7: 10-8 Ruiz

Another knock down for Ruiz! He followed up a right hook with another right hook to the side of the head to put his opponent down for the third time. But it came with under 20 seconds left in the round, and Ruiz didn’t have time to try and put Ortiz away.

Round 8: 10-9 Ruiz

Not nearly as much action here, but a very close round that could have gone either way. But Ruiz has enough of a lead now where Ortiz will likely need a KO to win. He’s certainly shown he can do it with his speed and range, but needs to find the final shot.

Round 9: 10-9 Ortiz

While Ruiz might have landed the best shot to the body, more offense and going forward from Ortiz. He earns a close one here.

Round 10: 10-9 Ortiz

The best round of the fight so far for Ortiz, who landed several clean jabs and also followed with lefts to the body. The southpaw is seeming to find his rhythm despite being on the canvas three times already.

Round 11: 10-9 Ruiz

The hand speed of the Mexican-American is elite at the heavyweight level, and a pure straight right has closed the eye of Ortiz in that round. Ortiz needs a KO in the next three minutes or Ruiz will fight for the WBC title.

Round 12: 10-9 Ortiz

Some desperation upper cuts in search of a knockout landed, but there is no doubt about the winner. It’s all over but the scorecard announcement here.
