Update 9:20 p.m. The line moved to +3, with a total of 69 golfers surviving to play the weekend. That includes 15 exactly on the number of -3.
Update 4:45 p.m. The line has moved to -2, with 75 at that number or better, and 19 of them exactly at -2. This looks like it’ll be the final figure for today.
That won’t be good enough for K.J. Choi, Jason Dufner, and Webb Simpson, who are all in the house at -1 and can probably get ready for a tournament-free weekend.
Update 3:00 p.m. We could be looking at a cut line with plenty of players advancing, as right now the number is still -1. But a whopping 84 players are there, including 22 on -1 exactly. That means it’ll take just three getting to -2 to trim the field, but the course does seem to be playing a bit more difficult as the day continues.
But either cut line won’t be enough for Camilo Villegas, who is +1 as he plays his 18th hole of the day so he’ll be heading home.

The first trios tee off on Friday at 7:45 a.m. ET, with the afternoon groups beginning at 1:10 p.m. ET. It should be about 3 p.m. before we have a solid idea of what the final cut line should be, but many participants will know they’re heading home after holing out on 18.
