Scores were settled Sunday night at Wrestlemania Backlash. Despite a relatively small, six-match card, there was excitement aplenty. Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins brought the house down again; a title changed hands; a burgeoning faction gained a new member; and someone’s arm got broken (well, at least according to WWE).
Here are the matches and results from 2022 Wrestlemania Backlash:
The Bloodline defeated RK-Bro and Drew McIntyre via pinfall
What a great 22-minute match to close the show! Everyone got RKO’d. Reigns put McIntyre through a table. Riddle looked to have the match won for “RK-McBro” with an RKO off the top rope, but Reigns was there to spear Riddle and notch another victory for The Bloodline.

The match’s first 10 minutes consisted almost entirely of Riddle getting beaten to a pulp by all members of The Bloodline. Then Riddle made the hot tag to McIntyre who finally got a shot at Reigns after The Head of the Table ducked him early in the match.

Reigns got the upper hand on the Scottish Warrior when they did lock up and did some top-notch heel work. But then Reigns got distracted and caught by a Claymore.

This began an incredible run in this match, which featured a few near falls, Orton hitting Reigns with a classic RKO out of nowhere, and Reigns slamming McIntyre through the announce table. IT WAS KINETIC MADNESS!

Madcap Moss defeated Happy Corbin via pinfall
Moss really didn’t put together much offense in this one; it was Corbin who really dominated most of the match. But Moss pulled out a roll-up out of nowhere to get the victory over his former friend.

The crowd didn’t seem to be alive for this one after a series of really fun matches and with the main event up next.

Smackdown Women’s Championship: Ronda Rousey defeated Charlotte Flair (c) in “I Quit” match

Flair taunted Rousey, saying “Happy Mother’s Day” as she looked to put on the finishing touches with a chair. Rousey, who had her first child last September, immediately snapped, dragging Charlotte by her arm and locking in the armbar through a chair.

After the match, WWE announced that Flair has a “fractured radius.” In layman’s terms, a broken forearm. Guess we won’t be seeing her for a while.

As expected, things got physical in a hurry in this one. Ronda brought out a kendo stick at one point, so Charlotte countered by running backstage for ... two kendo sticks.

Another highlight was the scene as Rousey locked in an armbar from the ring apron while Charlotte got caught hanging upside down off of the top rope. Flair was able to break free from that, much like how Rousey used a chair shot to get out of Flair’s Figure Eight.
Edge defeated AJ Styles via submission

With The Phenomenal One perched on the top rope, looking to put Edge away with a high-flying maneuver, Damian Priest, Edge’s lackey in Judgment Day who was barred from ringside, came out to cause a distraction. Finn Balor then raced out to take out Priest.

However, as Styles turned his attention back to Edge, a hooded figure tripped Styles off of the rope. Edge capitalized with a crossface hold that put Styles out cold.
And Judgment Day now has a third member!

Most of the match centered on Edge taking away Styles’ left arm, leaving The Phenomenal One to battle with basically one arm for the majority. In the end, Edge notches another win over Styles thanks to interference.

Omos defeated Bobby Lashley via pinfall
Omos earned a measure of revenge after losing to Lashley at WrestleMania, but it was MVP who was, well, the real MVP.

Just when Lashley seemed to have all the momentum, Omos threw him into the corner, which gave MVP the opportunity to clock Bobby right in the eye with his cane, hidden from the view of the ref. Omos followed that up with a tree slam to get the 1-2-3.
This looked like a squash for Omos early, but things changed when Omos’ arms got tied up between the ropes, leaving him defenseless against Lashley.

Cody Rhodes defeated Seth Rollins via pinfall
The rematch was just as good as the original!
Superplexes, kickouts of both the Crossroads and the Pedigree, a bunch of high-flying action — these two just put on incredible matches. Ultimately, after Rhodes hit the Crossroads on Rollins for a second time, he reversed a roll-up, holding on to Rollins’ tights to grab the win.

Rollins controlled the early portion of the match, using a lot of strikes to slow down Cody. But after this superplex from Rhodes, the pace really picked up.

Near the end of this 20-minute match, Rollins disrespected Rhodes by hitting him with punches in the style of his late father, The American Dream Dusty Rhodes. But The American Nightmare turned Rollins’ momentum into a Crossroads, which set up a frantic ending to this fantastic match.
