The 105th edition of PGA Championship will be held from May 18-21, 2023 at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York, and the event will take place without four-time winner Tiger Woods. The golfing GOAT withdrew from the Masters after making the cut in April and revealed shortly after that he had undergone subtalar fusion surgery, which takes several months of recovery and rehabilitation.

Following his return to golf after his near-fatal car accident, Tiger played the 2022 PGA Championship at Southern Hills and made the cut. However he had to withdraw after Saturday’s play due to a screw from a previous surgery breaking through his skin. He has won the Wanamaker Trophy in 1999, 2000, 2006, and 2007 as well. Those tournaments took place at Medinah Country Club (twice), Valhalla Golf Club, and Southern Hills.

Woods struggled in his PGA Championship appearances at Oak Hill however, a humbling course for even the greatest of golfers. For reference, in 2003, when Woods finished T39 with a final score of +12, the winner that year finished with a total of -4. In 2013, Woods shot a +4 for a T40 finish.
