We’ll be posting full scores and results for the main event below.
Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano round-by-round results
Round 1: Taylor 10-9
You can tell both fighters are amped from the atmosphere and it is awesome. They trade combinations with Taylor connecting with some hooks. Serrano responds, but her punches didn’t land as solid as Taylor’s did. This one is going to be close.
Round 2: Serrano 10-9, 19-19
Both fighters clinch early in the round and land solid body shots. Taylor tries to walk down Serrano, but she fights back with combinations of left-handed punches backing off Taylor. This one felt really close, but I’m giving the narrow edge to Serrano to tie it up.
Round 3: Taylor 10-9, 29-28
These two-minute rounds are flying. Scrappy clinch again in this round. Taylor got a lot of shots in late to take this round and I don’t know that she stopped moving. The bell rang and the ref couldn’t even hear it. That’s how loud the arena is.
Round 4: Taylor 10-9, 39-37
Taylor continues her quick strikes and she dodged a big hook from Taylor. Serrano is showing off her power while Taylor is showing speed. The fight is living up to the hype so far. Taylor is cut over her left eye. If the fifth round continues to have Serrano improving this fight is going to change pace.
Round 5: Serrano 10-9, Taylor 48-47
Serrano backs Taylor into a corner and they are just walloping each other trading blows. The crowd is loving it. Ref isn’t separating them and Serrano is rapid-firing punches now. Serrano connects with a number of shots and Taylor is rocked. Taylor is definitely wobbly. Barely has her geet under it. This one was heavy in favor of Serrano. Incredible round of boxing and Taylor HAS to get a breather.
Round 6: Serrano 10-9, 57-57
Serrano is back on the attack and Taylor needs to get back to her speed and she can’t trade blows in the corner. Taylor took a huge risk with a haymaker and missed. She looks like she has mainly recovered, but Serrano is bringing it.
Round 7: Taylor 10-9, Taylor 67-66
I don’t want to say that Serrano is tired, but she was firing off punches like crazy in rounds five and six after smelling blood in the water. Taylor has her feet back under her and the fight slowed down in this round.
Round 8: Taylor 10-9, Taylor 77-75
Both fighters come out and throw a quick flurry of shots. Taylor is trying to get back on the offensive. It feels like Serrano is one more big shot away from taking this. Taylor is creating space again. Serrano may be saving up some for the last two rounds? Either way, Taylor was back to her early fight self and takes this one.
Round 9: Taylor 10-9, 87-84
Serrano has had the bigger hits up to this point, but Taylor feels like she is in control of the pace. Taylor looks like she has a second wind and it looks hard for Serrano to keep her foot on the pedal. Serrano has thrown 200 more punches than Taylor. I think she is realizing she may not be as ahead as she thinks and is trying to make up ground while Taylor is back to playing great defense. Serrano is going to need a knockout for the win.
Round 10: Taylor 10-9, 97-93
Crowd is on their feet for the final round. There are two rounds that definitely went Serrano’s way and the others are toss-ups. Serrano is cut above her right eye. Taylor realizes it is the end of the fight and she is going all out. Serrano looks thrown from her cut. These women are putting on an awesome show and leaving it all out there. This one is going to the cards.
