The last spot in the semifinal round of the 2022 World Cup is on the line when England take on France in the last quarterfinal. These two European powers have played plenty of big matches throughout their soccer history but none are arguably as big as this contest Saturday.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the line has moved to essentially even after France were initially favored. Both France and England are now +180 on the moneyline to win in regular time, with a draw set at +205. Both have also been put at even money to advance at -110 each. This is a big shift over the last hour, as France were slight favorites heading into the match prior to this last update.

England vs. France live updates

Full time - Rashford sends his kick over the goal and that’s how this one will end. France are headed back to the semifinal and are 90 minutes and change away from getting to defend their 2018 title. They defeat England 2-1.

90+9 minute - It’s all down to this last free kick for England. Just like Netherlands-Argentina, everything hinges on this kick.

90th minute - There are eight minutes of stoppage time for England to find an equalizer or France to seal a semifinal spot.

84th minute - KANE MISSES THE PENALTY FOR ENGLAND! VAR gives England a penalty after a clear foul on Theo Hernandez but Kane cannot convert. It remains 2-1 France with just under six minutes left in regulation.

78th minute - GOAL FOR GIROUD! This time, the France striker won’t be denied. He gets a great service from Griezmann and makes no mistake, heading one past Pickford. France are up 2-1.

77th minute - Pickford denies Giroud! France put together a nice attack, with Giroud finding a boot at the end of the play on the cross. However, his shot is directly at Pickford and the England goalkeeper makes a save.

70th minute - MAGUIRE JUST MISSES! The England defender found some space off a set piece and got great contact on his header. He beat Lloris, but he also missed the goal as his shot hit off the post and went out. A tough break for England, who have now dominated this game from an aggression standpoint.

62nd minute - England have grown into the game and got a boost with their goal. They’re putting more shots up, although none are really troubling Lloris. France’s back line are having fits trying to control England’s attackers, particularly Saka. Even Phil Foden is getting into the action now. We’ll see if France can hold on.

53rd minute - ENGLAND DRAW A PENALTY! Tchouameni is the culprit here. Harry Kane steps to the spot, takes some time to adjust the ball, and then makes his kick. Kane sinks it and we’re level in the quarterfinal.

48th minute - England are having a tough time beating Lloris, who made one more stunning save. This time he denies Jude Bellingham on an absolute rocket, and then prevents Harry Maguire from doing damage on the ensuing corner. There has been some excellent goalkeeping in this quarterfinal round and Lloris has added to it in this match.

Halftime - France lead England 1-0, but the Three Lions have been the more threatening side overall after France got an early goal. England have largely held Mbappe in check, although he has had some chances to get a goal. The problem for England has been France’s midfield play, which has held up well in general despite some good chances for Kane and Saka.

39th minute - France get a nice build-up off a set piece, but Mbappe cannot keep his shot down from inside the box and skies it over the goal. The defending champs are still up 1-0 but England have pushed hard and seem close to finding an equalizer.

29th minute - Harry Kane, likely still fuming about not getting a penalty after a VAR check, blasts a shot which Lloris saves. It’s been England’s best effort so far and things are really starting to heat up now in this match.

25th minute - England have started to make some inroads and even forced France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to make a few saves. The Three Lions have to chase this game now, and they’re showing they’re up to the task at least in terms of intent.

17th minute - GOAL FOR FRANCE! Aurelien Tchouameni fires an absolute rocket into the far corner of the goal, beating Jordan Pickford with ease. It all starts with Mbappe making a nice cut in on the attack and eventually knocking the ball around. France find Tchouameni at the top of the box and he does the rest. The defending champs lead 1-0.

11th minute - There have been some good chances for both teams, and France have made an effort to attack England on the flanks. Both teams have started to settle into the game a bit more and it’s been an even contest so far.

1st minute - England collectively take a knee ahead of the opening whistle as a gesture of pushing back against racism, human rights violations and other injustices in soccer and society. France curiously did not also take a knee, and that’s sure to be part of the conversation after this match.

Pregame - The lineups are unchanged, although it is a bit surprising to not see Marcus Rashford in the starting XI for England after the tournament he’s had. The big question is how England deal with Kylian Mbappe, who is the leader for the Golden Boot. He’s bee dominant on the flanks and can destroy any gameplan if not dealt with properly.
