Sunday update: LeBron has been ruled out Sunday vs. the Spurs with a half hour or so until tip-off. James is dealing with a groin injury and was listed as questionable, then being ruled a game-time decision. The Lakers have strung together two wins and would like to extend the streak against a bad Spurs squad. L.A. are 6-point favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook and should remain favored despite James being out. The point total is at 230, which is relatively high.
James didn’t play the previous game against the Pistons, which resulted in a 128-121 win. Sunday night’s game should be a track meet and Anthony Davis scored 38 points against Detroit. Expect AD to be a trendy play in DFS and for some lineups to pivot onto the big. Austin Reaves and Lonnie Walker also have some value with LeBron out again.
Saturday update: James is once again being listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Spurs. He has a better chance of playing here than he did Friday, and got the benefit of a couple extra days off. We’ll see if the King can suit up against San Antonio.
Friday update: James is once again out for the Lakers with the groin injury. The extended time off did not give him enough recovery time and he’ll hope to make his return Sunday against the Spurs.
Thursday update: The Lakers have listed James as questionable for Friday’s game with the groin injury he suffered last Wednesday. The long layoff has given the King a chance to recover and he’s made some progress and he’s now questionable instead of doubtful.
Sunday update: James remains out Sunday against the Nets with the groin injury. He’ll have some extended time off now and will hope to get back for Friday’s game against the Pistons.
Thursday update: James has been ruled out of Friday’s game.
Thursday update: James officially has a groin injury and is listed as doubtful for Friday’s contest against the Kings. Russell Westbrook remains in his bench role, so Anthony Davis would be the primary offensive option if James sits.
Update: It’s officially being called “left leg soreness” for James. He will not return to the game, which was basically over when he checked out to go to the locker room.
LeBron James won't return tonight due to left leg soreness.

James had previously been dealing with a foot issue this season, even missing Monday’s game due to the ailment. This is a new injury and is the latest in a string of issues James has had over the last few seasons. He had 30 points, eight rebounds and five assists prior to departing in what looks to be another Laker loss.
If James is out for a while, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook will take on bigger burdens. Westbrook is not going to be moved from his bench role, which has been one of the few successful parts of this early season. Davis will have to take on more responsibility offensively, and the role players will need to step up as well if James is sidelined for more than a week or two.
