We go over the lineups for New York and Cleveland in Game 1 of the ALDS in 2022.

The Cleveland Guardians and New York Yankees open their American League Division Series tonight at Yankee Stadium. A couple of quality right-handed pitchers will be on the mound for Game 1: the Guardians’ Cal Quantrill and the Yankees’ Gerrit Cole. Here are the starting lineups for this matchup.

Yankees confirmed lineup

Aaron Judge, RF
Anthony Rizzo, 1B
Gleyber Torres, 2B
Giancarlo Stanton, DH
Oswaldo Cabrera, LF
Josh Donaldson, 3B
Isiah Kiner-Falefa, SS
Jose Trevino, C
Harrison Bader, CF

This is the look the Yankees will go with in Game 1. Matt Carpenter is on the active roster for the ALDS and so is Aaron Hicks. Cabrera will make his first postseason start in left field batting fifth ahead of Donaldson. It’s a big spot for the rookie. We could see the Yankees shift guys around later on and have Carpenter, Hicks or Marwin Gonzalez come in to pinch hit.

Guardians official lineup

Steven Kwan, LF
Amed Rosario, SS
Jose Ramirez, 3B
Josh Naylor, 1B
Oscar Gonzalez, RF
Andres Gimenez, 2B
Will Brennan, DH
Austin Hedges, C
Myles Straw, CF

Not changes from the Guardians in terms of lineup from the Wild Card round vs. the Rays. Cleveland will go with the same batting order pretty much.
