Royal Rumble 2022: Final results from January PPV

The 2022 Royal Rumble took place in St. Louis and we have the results from the show here.

The Road to Wrestlemania got kicked off for the WWE on Saturday with the annual Royal Rumble taking place at the Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis.

The show was headlined by the two Royal Rumble matches where a returning Ronda Rousey won the women’s match and Brock Lesnar won the men’s match. Lesnar took part in the rumble after losing the WWE Championship to Bobby Lashley earlier in the night, a result of interference by Roman Reigns and a betrayal by Paul Heyman.

Here are the final results from the show:

Men’s Royal Rumble Match: Brock Lesnar wins

Like Thanos, Brock Lesnar is inevitable and after entering the match at No. 30, the Beast cleared house to win the men’s Royal Rumble match.

The match was featured Johnny Knoxville making an appearance early, the return of Drew McIntyre from his neck injury, and the return of international pop superstar Bad Bunny, who once again shined in the ring and got a few eliminations during his appearance.

That was all before Lesnar hit the ring and rendered everyone obsolete.

He will most likely target Reigns for Wrestlemania but he could also target Lashley to get back his WWE Championship.

You can find the order of the men’s rumble match and the eliminations here.

Edge and Beth Phoenix defeats The Miz and Maryse via pinfall

The “Grit Couple” of Edge and Beth Phoenix defeated The Miz and Maryse in a fun mixed tag match.

Raw Women’s Championship - Becky Lynch (c) defeats Doudrop via pinfall

Becky Lynch’s reign as the Raw Women’s Champion continues. At the end of a competitive matchup, Lynch hit the Manhandle Slam from the middle rope to put down the Scottish upstart.

Women’s Royal Rumble Match: Ronda Rousey wins

Our first big surprise of the night came in the women’s Royal Rumble match, where Ronda Rousey made her long anticipated return to the WWE and won the rumble.

The former UFC superstar and Raw Women’s Champion entered at No. 28 and made her presence felt immediately. It came down to her and Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair, whom she eliminated to win. One has to assume that a Flair-Rousey program is in the works for Wrestlemania.

You can get the full order and eliminations here.

WWE Championship - Bobby Lashley defeats Brock Lesnar (c) via pinfall

We have a new WWE Champion. Bobby Lashley defeated Brock Lesnar in controversial fashion to become a two-time world champion.

Towards the end of the match, Lesnar hit the F5 on Lashley but it simultaneously took out the referee. With the ref down, Roman Reigns entered the ring and speared the WWE Champion. He then turned to Paul Heyman, who handed the Tribal Chief Lesnar’s belt.

Reigns proceeded to blast the Beast with the belt and walked off with Heyman, allowing for Lashley to score the pinfall with a new ref in the ring to become the champ.

On top of his feud with Rollins, it appears this piece of business between Reigns and Lesnar is continuing as well with Heyman doublecrossing his client.

Universal Championship - Seth Rollins defeats Roman Reigns (c) via disqualification (Reigns retains)

The Universal title match kicked off the show and Seth Rollins picked up the victory over Roman Reigns via disqualification. Reigns had Rollins in a guillotine and refused the break the hold when the challenger grabbed the ropes, triggering the DQ. The title can’t change hands on a DQ, so Roman is still the champ.

It began with Seth Rollins trolling Reigns by coming out to the old S.H.I.E.L.D. music and entering through the crowd.

He’d continue with the S.H.I.E.L.D. antics by powerbombing him through an announce table early in the match.

After the DQ finish, the champ proceeded to brutalize Rollins with a steel chair after the match, so this feud isn’t over.
