It’s a light injury report in the association for Thursday’s slate, with only two games on tap. The NBA will announce the starters for the 2022 All-Star Game, so that’s likely the reason for the limited number of games to put the spotlight on the players making the starting lineups for the showcase event. Here’s a look at Thursday’s injury report in the NBA.
NBA Injury Report: January 27
Anthony Davis (knee) available
LeBron James (knee) OUT
Update - As expected, Davis will play Thursday. He’s likely to take on a bigger role offensively with James out, although Russell Westbrook probably gets the bigger boost in fantasy/DFS lineups.
Update - LeBron has been ruled out tonight vs. the Sixers. As a result, we can lean into Russell Westbrook on the short slate and in Showdown on DraftKings. Melo also isn’t a bad idea since he’ll need to play more minutes at forward. AD is likely still on a minutes limit of some sort, especially if this game isn’t competitive. Davis isn’t really a play outside of being contrarian.
Update - James was a late add to the injury report with a knee issue. He had just come off the report due to the abdominal injury, but this is a new thing and could be a problem for James if he over-extends his body.
Davis should be good to go, but the big news here is James being taken off the injury report. That means his abdominal issue is in the rearview mirror, which is a big boost for the Lakers.
Seth Curry (ankle) OUT
Danny Green (hip) available
Tobias Harris (illness) available
Update - Harris is available and starting Thursday for the 76ers.
Update - Harris was a late add to the injury report and was expected to play. However, he’s been downgraded to questionable and seems to be trending in the wrong direction for the contest.
Update - Green is expected to play, so Korkmaz and Niang might see less minutes than usual. Maxey remains a great DFS play, as the second-year guard is showcasing his talent in the starting role.
Curry remains out, while Green is questionable. Look for Tyrese Maxey, Furkan Korkmaz and Georges Niang to be big factors if Green ultimately gets ruled out.
Patrick Beverley (ankle) OUT
Jaylen Nowell (back) available
Update - Beverley is likely to miss the contest, while the Timberwolves feel Nowell will play. Look for Russell to benefit from Beverley’s absence in fantasy/DFS lineups.
Beverley is questionable, and his designation will affect D’Angelo Russell. Anthony Edwards is off the injury report, which is good news for Minnesota. Nowell is questionable, but he doesn’t register much in fantasy/DFS lineups.
Andre Iguodala (injury management) OUT
Klay Thompson (injury management) available
Draymond Green (disc) OUT
Update - Thompson is playing and starting, so it looks like he’s eventually starting to get into the flow as a regular player for the Warriors.
Iguodala and Green are out, while Thompson is expected to play. Look for Jonathan Kuminga to continue taking steps in the right direction for Golden State. Thompson will likely still be on a minutes limit, so Jordan Poole is a trendy fantasy/DFS play with some value.
