Sunday update — Hopkins remains questionable for Week 3 vs. the Jags but a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter they are “Pretty confident [Hopkins] will play, but not 100 (percent he will).”
Friday update — Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury says Hopkins, who has missed back-to-back practices with a rib injury, is officially a game-time decision against the Jaguars in Week 3. If the receiver cannot go, look for Rondale Moore and Christian Kirk to be more involved in the passing game.
Friday update — Hopkins will not practice Friday, according to Darren Urban from AZCardinals.com. The wide receiver is dealing with a rib injury and while there’s no indication that he’s going to miss Sunday’s game against the Jaguars, a second straight missed practice is a sign of concern. We still expect Hopkins to play in Week 3, but he’ll likely have a questionable tag until the pre-kickoff injury report.
Thursday update — Hopkins was absent from practice for a second straight day due to a rib injury, per Adam Beasley. So far Nuk hasn’t practiced all week. He’s got a chance to get back in there on Friday, though the team could just maintain caution with the top wideout. We could see Hopkins get a questionable tag for Sunday vs. the Jaguars, but chances are he’ll be out there.
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins didn’t practice on Wednesday, per the injury report. He is dealing with a rib injury, but details on the severity of the injury are scarce. He did not appear to miss any time during their Week 2 game with the injury. At this point we can probably not worry too much about his status, but we’ll need to see him return to practice. He has played in the past without practicing, so we can’t rule him out until the team does so officially.
Fantasy football implications
Hopkins is the best receiver in Arizona and one of the best in the league. His absence would be felt by the team and fantasy managers. But if he were to miss, we’d likely get a nice helping of Rondale Moore and Christian Kirk, both players who could put up big numbers in a matchup with the Jaguars without Hopkins.
