Sunday update — The Colts plan on starting Wentz in Week 3 vs. the Titans, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. We’ll have to wait and see when Wentz is confirmed as active, but for now we’ll proceed under the impression that he’s playing.
The #Colts plan to start QB Carson Wentz (ankles) tomorrow vs. the #Titans, sources say. No setbacks and Wentz is pushing to play, so he’s expected to give it a go. The team has contingency plans in case he gets out there and can’t play to the proper level.

Friday afternoon update: Head coach Frank Reich told reporters that Carson Wentz will be a game time decision after getting a limited practice in on Friday, per Stephen Holder. Things appear to be trending toward Wentz playing, but we won’t know for sure until Sunday.
Friday morning update: Wentz is starting practice Friday, according to Zak Keefer of The Athletic. Joel A. Erickson of the Indy Star reports the quarterback is taking drops in the pocket and making throws, suggesting Wentz could be in line to play Sunday against Tennessee. The Colts have had success against the Titans in recent seasons and will get a big boost if Wentz does indeed take the field in Week 3.
Thursday morning update: Scout team quarterback Brett Hundley has taken the majority of the snaps this week in Indianapolis, seemingly skipping over Jacob Eason for the backup and possible starter role, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Pelissero mentions that both could end up playing if Wentz is out.
Wentz’s status is still up in the air, but he has a chance to play this week if he can get back to practice. He was a DNP on Thursday with one day of practice remaining.
Wednesday update: Wentz won’t practice Wednesday, but doesn’t have a walking boot on and is talking to reporters. He says his right ankle is worse than his left.
A boot-less Carson Wentz, talking about both sprained ankles. Says right is much worse than left. Still sore. Last 48 hours:

Carson Wentz won’t practice on Wednesday, per George Bremer. Head coach Frank Reich says that Wentz is feeling better compared to yesterday, and that his ankle injuries remain day-to-day.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Carson Wentz is currently dealing with ankle sprains on both ankles suffered in Sunday’s contest against the Los Angeles Rams, per Ian Rapoport. Wentz will be undergoing tests to determine the severity of the sprains.
The veteran starting quarterback suffered the injury late in the fourth quarter as he tried to scramble out of the pocket, but was pulled down by Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald. Second-year quarterback Jacob Eason took over Wentz and threw an interception in his two series of work.
Fantasy football implications
If you are a fantasy football manager, this is not ideal news to hear about Wentz, who is an upgrade over Eason. Even though he is not having the best start to the season, the veteran quarterback is still a solid QB1 option in fantasy with the right matchup in a given week.
If Wentz is out any extended period of time, then the Colts would be forced to go with the unproven Eason, who did not take a single snap last season as a rookie. But Eason would not be asked to do much in Frank Reich’s system as the Colts would lean on their trio of running backs in Jonathan Taylor, Marlon Mack, and Nyheim Hines. That is where the value would be at if you were to start any Colts’ offensive players.
