Even before the drama surrounding Aaron Rodgers became a national story, the Green Bay Packers made waves during the 2020 offseason for their draft class. Among those selections, the team spent a second-round pick on Boston College running back AJ Dillon. The decision garnered considerable criticism given Dillon’s position and the presence of established runners on the roster. Now, roughly a year later, Dillon steps into a bigger role for the Packers offense.

Here, we take a look at the prop bets on the table for Dillon on DraftKings Sportsbook ahead of the 2021 NFL season and make our picks.

690.5 rushing yards: Over (-110) or Under (-120)

Our pick: Under

The Packers have carved out a sizable role for the No. 2 running back since Matt LaFleur took over as head coach and offensive play-caller. However, that back has never averaged more than 36.1 rushing yards per game. While Dillon appears to provide an upgrade over Jamaal Williams, the player who served in that role each of the past two years, it doesn’t appear likely that LaFleur will shift so much more workload onto his plate after Green Bay signed starter Aaron Jones to a four-year, $48 million contract this offseason. Dillon will see plenty of touches as the backup, but unless Jones misses extended time, he probably won’t receive enough to threaten the over.
