With Kenyan Drake signing a one-year with the Las Vegas Raiders in the offseason, it appears as if Chase Edmonds will have a bigger role in the Cardinals’ offense. The dual-threat running back will be sharing touches with former Steelers running back James Conner. But based on what we saw last season from Edmonds, he could be due for a breakout 2021 season.
Here, we’ll take a look at the prop bets on the table for Arizona Cardinals RB Chase Edmonds on DraftKings Sportsbook ahead of the 2021 NFL season and make our picks.
650.5 rushing yards: Over (+100) or Under (-130)
Our pick: Under
Since being drafted in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Edmonds has yet to rush for 500 yards in a season. Last season, the former Fordham standout had one of his best years in Arizona both on the ground and in the receiving games. Edmonds produced 448 rushing yards only on 97 carries and had 1 touchdown. He also added a career-high 53 receptions (67 targets) for 402 yards and four touchdowns.
Edmonds was a solid compliment to Drake, who had 239 carries, which led the Cards. One would think that Drake’s 239 carries will be split up between Edmonds and Conner. But the question is can Conner stay healthy for a full season? He’s yet to play a full 16-game season in his career. Last season with the Steelers, Conner had 721 rushing yards on 169 carries and 6 touchdowns in 13 games. I don’t see Edmonds becoming the feature back in AZ, but more so a change of pace option.
46.5 receptions: Over (-115) or Under (-115)
Our pick: Over
If you do not feel comfortable playing the under for Edmonds’ rushing yards, then the best bet would to take the over for receptions. We saw last season how much of a weapon he was in Kliff Kingsbury’s offense. Edmonds had 53 receptions (67 targets) for 402 yards and four touchdowns. Last season, the 5-foot-9 running back had eight games where he had at least 5 targets or more. Edmonds can give opposing defenses trouble in the passing game and will be a factor out of the backfield this season.
