Lane Kiffin says Ole Miss football has reached 100 percent vaccination rate among key personnel

Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin says his team has reached 100 percent vaccination among players, coaches, staff members and field personnel. The Rebels are likely to face relaxed protocols and less rigorous testing standards as a result of this development.

Ole Miss’ vaccination rate is surprising given the lower vaccination rate across the state. Mississippi is one of the least vaccinated states in America, with 35.1 percent of the population fully vaccinated, according to the Mayo Clinic.

This is the second year of the Kiffin era at Ole Miss, with the program going 5-5 in the head coach’s inaugural season. The Rebels won the Outback Bowl 26-20 over a dynamic Indiana Hoosiers squad and have an upward trajectory for this season, especially on offense.

Ole Miss is currently sixth to win the SEC at +2500 according to DraftKings Sportsbook, but a 100 percent vaccination threshold should give the Rebels a leg up on some other programs who are lagging behind. SEC commissioner Greg Sankey hinted at the possibility of teams forfeiting games in the event of a COVID outbreak, but the Rebels likely won’t have to worry about that possibility for the time being.
