Why Jamaal Williams will go OVER or UNDER rushing yards for 2021 NFL season

Jamaal Williams left the Packers for the Lions this offseason, and now he might move into his most prominent role since his rookie season.

As part of a full organizational and roster reset, the Detroit Lions bid adieu to Adrian Peterson and Kerryon Johnson, the team’s leading rusher in 2020 and 2019, respectively. The move opens the door for more recently acquired running backs to move into more prominent roles, including former Green Bay Packers rusher Jamaal Williams.

Here, we take a look at the prop bets on the table for Williams on DraftKings Sportsbook ahead of the 2021 NFL season and make our picks.

525.5 rushing yards: Over (-115) or Under (-115)

Our pick: Over

The Lions don’t plan to give Williams more touches than second-year back D’Andre Swift, but the overall number of running plays will probably increase on a per-game basis with the arrival of head coach Dan Campbell and offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn. Williams, who ran reasonably efficiently the past two seasons, could receive his highest number of carries since his rookie season. That, combined with the extra game on the schedule, should give him a good shot at hitting the over here.
