Veteran forward Kelly Oubre Jr. has signed a two-year, $26 million contract with the Charlotte Hornets in free agency, according to Shams Charania.

Oubre will enter his seventh season in the NBA, and he has played for three different organizations in the past three seasons. Since the 2018-19 season, he suited up for the Washington Wizards, Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors. Oubre was apparently bothered by head coach Steve Kerr’s comments that said he may revert to a role off the bench if he returns to the organization.

Oubre entered free agency at 25 years old, and he has cashed in the past two seasons. In both of the last couple years, his salary was over $14 million. Reports said he wanted $20 million annually.

Oubre appeared in 55 games in the 2020-21 season with 50 starts for the Warriors. He averaged 15.4 points and six rebounds per game with an average of 30.7 minutes of playing time per contest. He shot 43.9% from the floor including 31.6% from deep. His free throw percentage dipped quite a bit to 69.5%.
