Report: Andre Iguodala plans to return to Warriors on one-year deal

Veteran guard/forward Andre Iguodala plans to sign a one-year contract with the Golden State Warriors in free agency, he tells The New York Times. He previously signed a two-year, $30 million extension with the Miami Heat in 2020 after being traded from the Memphis Grizzlies.

Currently the second-oldest active NBA player behind Udonis Haslem, Iguodala’s production and role have decreased as he’s aged. The 2015 NBA Finals MVP primarily came off the bench this past season with the Heat, averaging just 21.3 minutes per game and putting up career lows in points (4.4), field goal percentage (38.3%), and rebounds (3.5). While his best days on the court are certainly behind him, he stands to provide an invaluable veteran presence in the locker room.

A reunion with Golden State could do wonders for Iguodala and the franchise. He’s familiar with Steve Kerr’s system and the players in it. The Warriors are counting on reliable veterans with championship experience to get back to the top of the NBA mountain. This is a perfect match for both parties.
