Veteran guard Spencer Dinwiddie is expected to land with the Washington Wizards following a sign-and-trade, per reports. The sign-and-trade could involve multiple teams of up to 6-8, per Quinton Mayo. The Brooklyn Nets, Wizards, Chicago Bulls and Oklahoma City Thunder are teams who could be involved in Dinwiddie landing in D.C.

Dinwiddie will enter his eighth season in the NBA, and he spent the last five years with the Brooklyn Nets after being picked in the second round by the Detroit Pistons. He played just three games in the 2020-21 season with a partially torn ACL suffered early in the year, though Dinwiddie is expected to be back at full strength for the start of the 2021-22 year.
Dinwiddie signed a three-year $34.4 million with the Nets in his most recent contract with a salary of $11.5 million in the 2020-21 season. Shortly after the season, the highly-coveted guard said he likely re-sign with Brooklyn with a five-year, $125 million deal.
It’s impossible to take anything away from a three-game sample size but in the 2019-20 season, Dinwiddie played in 64 games with 49 starts. In that season, he scored 20.6 points per game with 3.5 rebounds and 6.8 assists. Dinwiddie shot 41.5% from the floor including 30.8% from three-point range, and he has always been a good free throw shooter.
