Report: Andre Drummond joins 76ers on one-year deal

Veteran center Andre Drummond has signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency, according to Adrian Wojnarowski. According to Kyle Neubeck of the Philly Voice, the deal is for the minimum contract. Drummond completed a five-year, $130 million deal he signed with the Detroit Pistons as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. The Pistons initially traded Drummond to the Cavaliers, who bought out the rest of his contract this year so he could go to a contender.

Drummond averaged 11.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game with the Lakers but reportedly had issues with his role and did not adjust to head coach Frank Vogel’s system. The big man has seen his value decline as the league moves to a more perimeter-oriented game, but Drummond can still provide a solid post presence on both sides of the floor.

Over the last three seasons, Drummond is averaging 16.9 points and 14.5 rebounds per game. His free throw percentage needs work and his defensive skills have declined but Drummond is only 27. He is still a productive player and will help a contending team in the post.
