It’s one of the more anticipated nights in wrestling in quite awhile, yet there has been no direct confirmation from any parties involved that former WWE Champion and fan favorite CM Punk will be on tonight’s second-ever episode of AEW Rampage.
But those rumors are worth plenty, as a sold out United Center in Chicago will host the show tonight live at 10:00 p.m. ET and broadcast on TNT. If you want to stream it, you can head to this link with a cable or streaming service login.
As of now the official card has a pair of very over tag teams in Private Party vs. Jurassic Express, a women’s match with Jade Cargill vs. Kiera Hogan, and Jon Moxley vs. “Red Death” Daniel Garcia in what should be a good one.
But that’s not how you sell out the United Center. This promo right here from Darby Allin standing besides the legend Sting is how you sell out the United Center.
“The Best In The World” is a longtime moniker of CM Punk. Tonight’s event is in Punk’s hometown of Chicago. AEW’s All Out pay-per-view is also in Chicago on September 5th, and if Punk is now indeed on the AEW roster, they’ll probably regret holding that event at the Now Arena in the Chicago suburbs instead of the United Center as well. Because they might be able to sell out Soldier Field.
It’s not like AEW to swerve their fans, so this seems to be a thing that’s happening. We’ll find out tonight, but the pop for this entrance might be unlike anything we’ve ever seen in pro graps before.
If that first note of Cult of Personality hits, let’s hope the roof of the building has had proper maintenance.
