We have a full 15-game slate in the majors Friday, beginning at 2:20 p.m. ET with the Kansas City Royals and Chicago Cubs. There are a lot good matchups happening across the league that will feature a ton of betting implications.

We went 1-1 in our best bets for Thursday, after dropping both of our best bets the previous day. Our first winning best bet came courtesy of the Seattle Mariners (-135), who defeated the Texas Rangers 9-8 in extra innings. The Mariners almost pulled a Detroit Tigers and lost the game after holding a 5-run lead through five innings.

However, we failed to cash in on our only prop bet as Brewers starter Brandon Woodruff did not go over 6.5 strikeouts (+105) against Cardinals. Woodruff only recorded 4 strikeouts and gave up 6 six earned runs in 5.0 IP.

Here we’re going to be tracking all the best MLB picks base on the odds and lines on DraftKings Sportsbook for Friday night’s baseball action.

MLB picks for Friday, August 20th

Lucas Giolito over 7.5 strikeouts (-105) vs. Tampa Bay

This is a player prop that you need to jump on as soon as possible because we could see it move to minus money closer to first pitch. Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Lucas Giolito has been up and down over the course of this season. Giolito has a record of 9-9 and a 3.83 ERA through 24 starts. However, he’s been a strikeout machine on one of the best rotations in the majors, recording 161 strikeouts in 141.0 IP.

Giolito has a favorable matchup on the mound Friday night as the Rays’ offense is averaging 9.89 strikeouts per game (30th in the majors). That number only goes up at home with 9.98 strikeouts per game. The 27-year-old starting pitcher has gone over 7.5 strikeouts in 12 out of 24 starts, which includes 2 out of his last 3 outings.

Max Fried over 5.5 strikeouts (+115) vs. Baltimore

If you are looking for a plus-money prop to play tonight, look no further than Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Max Fried. The 27-year-old Fried has a 10-7 record and 3.78 ERA through 20 starts this season. The veteran starting pitcher has not played well on the road with a record of 4-4 and 4.67 ERA in 10 starts.

However, Fried has gone over 5.5 strikeouts in 11 out of 20 starts, which includes 4 out of his last 5 starts. In his last five road outings, the Braves’ right-handed starter is averaging 6.8 Ks per game. He’ll be facing an Orioles’ offense that is averaging 8.75 strikeouts per game this season and 8.07 strikeouts per game at home.
