Veteran center Dwight Howard is returning to the Los Angeles Lakers, his agent told multiple reporters on Monday. He previously signed a one-year, $2.56 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers last November.

After helping the Los Angeles Lakers win the NBA title in the bubble last year, the three-time Defensive Player of the Year and future Hall of Famer went back to the Eastern Conference to help another contender in Philly. Primarily coming off the bench and playing just over 17 minutes a game, Howard contributed 7.0 points and 5.7 rebounds a night for a Sixers team that captured the top seed in the east. He appeared in all 12 playoff games, but his role was even more diminished as Philadelphia was shown the door in the second round.

At 35, Howard is one of the oldest active players in the league with his career drawing closer to an end. We’ll see if he can still contribute for a contender as a veteran presence.
