Toronto Blue Jays center fielder George Springer has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a sprained left knee, per team manager Charlie Montoyo.

The 2017 World Series MVP was already feeling soreness in his ankle following crashing into a wall against the Seattle Mariners on Saturday. No clear timetable has been made for his return and Montoyo hopes to have him back before the conclusion of the regular season.

Springer has battled injuries since his joining the Blue Jays organization earlier this year, missing the first month of the season with a quadriceps injury he suffered in training camp. The three-time American League All-Star was in the midst of a tear with Toronto in the late-July, early-August, earning back-to-back AL Player of the Week honors during an extended stretch where he’s clobbered six home runs and 18 RBI while batting .400 during the last eight games of that run.

The Blue Jays recalled infielder Otto Lopez, who will be active for tonight’s matchup at the Washington Nationals.
